Professionals nationwide are working through the recession with careers in medical assisting and other healthcare fields.
A recent report by WISC-TV in Wisconsin notes that healthcare careers are still growing in that state and elsewhere despite a recession that has led to rapidly rising unemployment in most other industries.
"The health care professions are well-built. People can start at a basic level and work their way up to our nursing degrees and the university level," Terry Webb of Madison Area Technical College told the television station.
Many people are able to train as medical assistants and then use that experience to advance into other parts of the healthcare industry. For example, the television station cited medical sonographers as a rapidly growing field due to the recent growth of ultrasound technology, while healthcare IT professionals are projected to be in great demand as well.
If you're interested in starting your healthcare career, consider training as a medical assistant. You'll be able to help others while enjoying career stability and opportunity for advancement.
