As federal money flows into the coffers of job search and training centers across the country, local agencies are providing funding to help train people interested in medical assisting, a field that appears to have high hopes for the future.

According to articles in the Arizona Republic and CBS2Chicago, there are millions of dollars available to those looking for medical assistant training. The funds come from the $3.1 billion provided for workforce development in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed into law Feb. 17.

Maricopa Workforce Connections, in Arizona, is set to receive $7.87 million to help train people in growth areas such as health care, according to the article. People such as Diana Tarango, a single mother of three who wants to become a medical assistant, would be eligible for federal education loans as well as stimulus money in order to pursue her training.

The Job Center of Lake County, in Illinois, has received $5.2 million in federal stimulus grants, and is also providing aid to those hoping to get retrained.

With a strong push by the government to provide funding to those looking to make a new start, it may be a good time to pursue a medical assistant career.
