Many people who train as medical assistants acquire new skills over time that can take them into almost any corner of the healthcare industry that intrigues them.

This week, the Baltimore Sun profiled Diane Trimble, who started her healthcare career as a medical assistant and then moved on to become a registered nurse and a certified plastic surgical nurse.

Now, according to the Sun, Trimble works in her chosen specialty as a patient coordinator for cosmetic procedures. In that capacity, she provides information about procedures to prospective clients and provides tours of the facility, handles before-and-after photos, and also serves as office manager.

"The personal satisfaction of knowing I helped someone. The patients' boost in self-esteem and self-confidence is amazing. It's uplifting," she told the newspaper.

If you're interested in training to become a medical assistant, this is just one example of the many different opportunities that exist within the overall healthcare field. Take some time to explore the various options, online and in the classroom, which may be available to you.
