Healthcare Facilities Still Hiring Despite Recession

In many parts of America, healthcare jobs, including medical assistants and others, are proving to be resilient in the face of the recession.
A recent report in the Columbus Journal-Dispatch notes that a recent search of local jobs on Monster.com found 490 openings for the healthcare field, far more than any other category. The next highest was reportedly "other" with 226.
"When you get sick, you go to a doctor or a hospital, regardless of whether there's a recession on or not," Bill LaFayette of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce told the newspaper.
The report also noted that there are particular openings for medical assistants, as well as nurses, in the area.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics website cites this field as one of the fastest growing in the country, and notes that students will learn a wide variety of new things, from laboratory techniques and clinical procedures to first aid and administrative skills.
