After expanding training to become a medical assistant from two weeks to 10, the Wenatchee Valley Medical Center is seeing improved results and the trainees are benefitting from the easier learning curve, according to an article in The Wenatchee World Online.
"The training gave me a good grasp of everything I have to do for the day, and they (the teaching staff) take us to all the different departments so, when were out there on our own, we know where to go and what to do," says Laine Machado, a medical assistant hired four months ago.
The officials at the center have referred to the expanded training as "the university", and say that the lower learning curve has allowed trainees to learn the details they need to work well on day one, and are thinking of expanding the program, which has already trained 39 nurses and medical assistants.
As more training centers expand and improve training for medical assistant careers, people with an interest in a career in medicine and health services may find it is the right time to look into becoming a certified medical assistant.
